This family is very near and dear to us. Jermaine and my husband have been friends for a very long time and we are so lucky that while they met in Pennsylvania they both have ended up here in Northern Virginia for their careers. My husband is a Godfather to their youngest and Amanda is our sons Godmother. They truly are our family!
This past summer Jermaine was diagnosed with Desmoplastic Small-Round-Cell Tumor, which is a very aggressive and rare cancer. Before he started treatment Amanda asked if I could do some family portraits for them. We had a great session with fantastic weather, just perfect. I love these photos so much!
Since shooting these, Jermaine has been undergoing very intensive treatments and is currently recovering from surgery.
This weekend I did mini-sessions in their honor and will be donating all the profits to their family. I wanted to say a huge thank you from myself and the Norah family to everyone who participated.
If you were unable to attend the mini-sessions but still want to help out this amazing family, they have a fundraiser site that you can donate to here: http://www.supportjnorah.myevent.com
This wedding was so special to me that it is hard to come up with the words to express my feelings. Jen is one of my oldest and dearest friends and I was so honored to join them in Mexico to photograph her and Christel’s wedding day.
Christel = STUNNING!
Jen actually got ready in my room. She was just a huge ball of nerves. It was very cute. ;)
It rained briefly right before the ceremony and it cooled the tempurature down a bit and gave me the perfect slightly overcast sky that us photographers love!
The way these two look at eachother just melts my heart every time I look at these photos.
Jen decided to sing a song to Christel during her vows.
These two women threw an AMAZING party. I had such a blast, it was hardly “work”.
They did a hilarious first dance to “I Kissed A Girl” by Katy Perry.
So you may have noticed the silence here on the blog throughout the year. I will just come out and say it… with the birth of my daughter in February, I took most of the year off. I wanted to keep myself sharp though so I filled my free days with portrait sessions and second shooting weddings with friends.
Today I would like to highlight the weddings I shot with the amazing Kristen Gardner! I love love love second shooting with her, we always have a blast.
We kicked it off in April with Erin & David (click link to see Kristen’s amazing photos).
Karin found me through my favorite place on the internet: A Practical Wedding! We hooked up over Google Hangout while I was still on maternity leave and I think we all knew it was just meant to be. She lives a few hours south of me and he lives in Colorado so it’s really amazing that we were able to pull off this engagement session last weekend. We met up in Old Towne Petersburg, VA. There are some really amazing spots down there. I really wish it was closer.
A good time was had by all!
I love that they don’t take themselves too seriously. ;)
I love when I get to see my couples again and again. Puja & Saj are no longer just my clients, they are friends and I just adore them. I was overjoyed when they contacted me about shooting some maternity and newborn photos for them.
During our shoot, Puja reminded me that exactly 4 years ago over the same weekend we shot their engagement photos. Man, time totally flies! I really feel like it was yesterday.
